Hello! I'm
Susan MacLellan-Tobert

Dr. MacLellan-Tobert specializes in working with physicians who are ready to make positive life changes. She believes that every clinician deserves to live a more value-driven, joy-filled life, taking the best care of themselves while caring for others.

I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and attended medical school at the University of Alberta. My residency and fellowship training  was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. After fellowship, I entered group practice in the Midwest and have been practicing in La Crosse, WI for the past 21 years.

I am a Master Certified Physician Development Coach through the Physician Coaching Institute and an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. I was fortunate to lead the development of my health system’s internal physician coaching program which also offers resilience training for residents. I enjoy speaking on topics around healthcare worker burnout, suicide prevention, and work-life integration. My blog posts have appeared on KevinMD and VITAL WorkLife Insights.

In my personal time, I enjoy pilates, gardening, bird watching, writing poetry and spending time with my 3 grown daughters.

My husband, who is also a physician, and I, hovered around burnout and have come through it together. This personal experience prompted me to explore coaching. From this, grew my genuine desire to serve my fellow physicians in the coaching capacity. I consider myself a thought partner, who comes alongside a client to accelerate them toward being their best self. I help physicians explore their values and strengths, overcome self-limiting beliefs, and develop a forward moving life perspective.
